See Her Change

SEE HER CHANGE is a physical and mental journey performed by Godder alongside two of her longtime collaborators Dalia Chaimsky and Shuli Enosh. Juxtaposing private experience with stage persona, the performance prompts questions of age and ageing, social functions and gender representations. Multitude of self-mockery scenarios suggests diverse interpretations of the altered female character. Mixing, matching and overlaying body postures, sounds and movements, the performers are constantly de-contextualizing their roles and personalities. All three playfully expose a rare sense of vulnerability, while also seeking safe haven through means of disguise. A choreography of unexpected interactions and compositions manifests different notions of ‘femaleness’. From glamorous to pathetic, from dangerously stimulating acts to childlike manner, a multi-faceted portrait is brought to stage. Skillfully maneuvering from the distressed to the overwhelmed it stimulates new associations regarding performativity, memory, and humor. Candid yet fierce and vigorous the performance entangles the viewer into an uncanny state. By constructing a web of intense sensory stimulation, Godder and her collaborators entice us into facing innate inhibitions and primal perceptions.

SEE HER CHANGE is a co-production of Montpellier Danse(2013), France, and Centro per la Scena Contemporanea, in Bassano del Grappa, Italy. The creation enjoyed the support of the Israel Lottery Council for Culture & Arts
