Jenny Birger

Born in 1984. Jenny Birger is a multidisciplinary researcher and creator. She has an extensive academic background (PhD in Linguistics from Tel Aviv University, 2014), Laban-Bartenieff studies (Kibbutzim College, 2023), and choreography studies (Kelim Center, Bat Yam, 2018). She has been deepening her independent research in West African dance and culture for the past five years.

The video-dance works Lurking (2014) and The Rope (2016) have been presented at renowned festivals around the world (Cinedans, Miden Art Video, Video Façade, Cyprus Film Festival, Nomade Festival, Wandering Exhibition). The video dance Be Lev Yam / In the Heart of the Sea (2022) is the official music video for this song by the singer Sher Niv.

Accompanying the “Moving Communities” project from 2016 as a teaching assistant and teacher, her latest work Pa’am / Once (2024) is a performance for and with the project’s participants with live percussion. 

Jenny is a certified yoga and pilates teacher who believes creativity and movement are generative tools for expanding our perception and adding vitality to our lives.
