Ari Teperberg

Ari Teperberg, 

Born in Jerusalem 1989, Teperberg is a theatre-maker, opera director and performer.
He graduated from the School of Visual Theatre in Jerusalem (2013) and is the recipient of the Jerusalem Foundation Prize, 2011.

Teperberg is a multi-disciplinary artist, who takes part in projects of various artistic mediums - theatre, dance, opera, object-theatre, performance art, sound, video.

As a maker, his works “And my Heart Almost Stood Still”, "I Want to Dance, Kate!", "What Happened to my Voice?" and “Caprices” have been performed successfully around Israel and abroad. In 2014 he won the ‘Stage Language’ prize at the Akko Festival, for “I Want to Dance, Kate!”. In 2019 Ari created the video work You Need to be Ready to Let Go of What the Eye Sees for the ethnography exhibition “Veiled Woman of the Holy Land” at the Israel Museum, Jerusalem. He was also an artistic advisor for the entire exhibition.

As part of his duo, the ‘Golden Delicious Ensemble’, he created and toured all around the world with the pieces "Jonathan and the Blue Table", "Small Change" and "Heidi".

In Opera and music, Ari directed “Shalem” at the Jerusalem Mekudeshet Festival; “Peter and the Wolf”, “Cosi Fan Tutte”, “Giulio Cesare in Egitto, “Haensel und Gretel”, "Dan the Guard", and "Le Nozze di Figaro". In 2019 he won the audience award at the Nano-Opera competition for young opera directors at Helikon Opera, Moscow.

As a performer, he worked with Yonatan Levy, Sharon Zuckerman-Weiser, and Ana Wild.

He teaches his working method to a variety of audiences: HaKvutza dancer training program; the Buchmann-Mehta School of Music in the Tel-Aviv University, where he teaches a course of movement for opera singers;  people that are dealing with mental health difficulties; dance lessons for people that deal with Parkinson’s disease in Yasmeen Godder’s Dance Company; fine-art and design academies (Bezalel and Shenkar); the ‘Zaz’ performance art festival; B-Motions dance festival, Bassano del Grappa, Italy; Westfluegel Theatre, Leipzig; Wielki Opera School, Warsaw; Bezalel Academy of Fine Arts; TanzTage Festival, Potsdam.
