Singular Sensation
In SINGULAR SENSATION, Godder explored with the performers the question: who are we in the hyper informed, self-conscious world of "look at me" and how can we manage to find excitement, a true thrill or a deep connection to sensation? This question led the process from the plasticized and artificial all the way to searching for an "authentic" experience, if such exists. The desire to please oozes out through the performers, as they are in searching of finding a singular sensation. The world created on stage is one of 5 different individuals pushing the boundaries of their own numbness.

WINNER BEST DANCE SHOW OF 2009 - TIMEOUT, TEL AVIV
"The stage is a peephole through which creatures wracked with emotional and erotic hyperbole can be spied on and analysed like wildlife. Covering feminism, sexuality and crowd psychology, Singular Sensation is almost too cumbersome and angular to absorb, yet it is so engrossingly colourful and eccentric that you can't help but do so". ballet.magazine
"AN ORGY OF TRASH COUTURE AND FRONTIER-TOWN BORDELLO MORALITY... A WORLD OF HYPER-STIMULUS." THE GUARDIAN
"Godder and her fine dancers are very good at showing the anxieties that underlie the bad behaviour... they reveal the poignancy as well as the provocation of Godder's argument." THE GUARDIAN
"Every new work by Yasmeen Godder, is an event full of expectation and the new work "Singular Sensation" responds to this. It is complex, original and accessible. Godder, one of the most talented and fertile choreographers which grew here in the last ten years, succeeds again at avoiding one-dimensionality and shallow statements, and presents to the audience a thought provoking and emotional challenge. (Yael Efrati, Timeout Tel-Aviv)
"Godder has a rare bravery, and like her other creations, here too the human materials, along with the design and the music are of profound thought" ( Gabi Eldor, Ma'ariv)
"Convention breaking excitement.... This is not the first time where Godder shocks, amazes and bewitches, and all with a great talent". (Ruth Eshel, Ha'aretz)
"Israeli choreographer Yasmeen Godder raised the bar on aesthetic wonder and real-time relevance with Singular Sensation, a riveting dance for five, distinguished by its high degree of movement invention and refusal of choreographic cliché. "(MJ Thompson, brooklynrail.org)
