Back Moving communities in Haifa
Moving communities in Haifa
After ten years of successful and meaningful activity, “Moving communities” is opening a northern branch in the city of Haifa, starting in February 2026.
The program will take place in a bright, welcoming studio located within the gallery of Pyramid – Center for Contemporary Art in Haifa. It will offer weekly contemporary dance classes, movement workshops for people living with Parkinson’s and their families, as well as special events featuring lectures and performances.
Pyramid – Center for Contemporary Art is operated by the Municipality of Haifa and runs a wide range of programs that bring various art forms into dialogue with diverse communities.
The dance classes invite people living with Parkinson’s to move and dance in an open, creative, non-judgmental, and enjoyable atmosphere, using a variety of dance approaches. The classes support the development of multiple movement skills, including flow, range of motion, movement memory, posture, and balance — all through tools of somatic awareness, movement understanding, improvisation, and creativity.
Classes are led by professional dancers and choreographers who introduce participants to a broad spectrum of movement and body practices, ranging from contemporary dance, Feldenkrais, and martial arts to vocal work, improvisation, and learning repertoire (movement sequences).
The classes are supported by a group of dedicated volunteers of various ages and backgrounds, all with significant experience in movement. Together, they form a diverse, intergenerational, and supportive group.
