Back Moving Communities practicing “Two by Two”

For the first time, in the context of Moving Communities,  the Yasmeen Godder Company will re-mount a work from the company’s repertoire, in collaboration with the participants of the project.  

The work, which will premiere in December 2025 as part of the Everybody Conference, is based on the 2020 piece “Practicing Empathy #2by2” created during the COVID period. The original work invited an intimate, wordless physical dialogue between performers and audience members within a two-square-meter space.

In this new version, the interaction will shift from the audience to the performers themselves — participants of “Moving Communities,” Company Dancers, and Volunteers will engage with one another inside 2×2-meter squares, creating a system of attention, timing, breathing, physical and verbal connection.

The working process was led and structured by Or Ashkenazi and Anat Vaadia, two longtime collaborators and dancers of the company, who were involved in developing the original work.

The practice of building trust and exploring physical empathy through mirroring, synchronization, somatic listening, and interpretation was freely constructed upon the original score.
